On May 22nd, I collected the Class Globe 5.80 CNC kit from Fyne Boat Kits in Cumbria (https://www.fyneboatkits.co.uk). It was a sunny day, and Irene and I headed down in the hired van to pick it up. The journey was good, the company was better, and the destination was exciting. This was a major step on the road to completing a crazy idea that started just over five months ago on a bridge in Lagos, Portugal.

The picture above is of me and Tim, who does all the cutting. Really nice guy and was very encouraging about my being able to build it.

Above you can see Phil starting to load wood for me to turn into a Class Globe 5.80 and sail across oceans.

The van is loaded and will be on its way across the border to be the first build in Scotland!

And with a final handshake we are on our way.

They made it look so easy, but there again they did have a fork lift truck!

All in one neat pile in the garage. Can you believe this pile of wood will be able to sail around the world one day! And if you don’t believe me take a look at 15 sailors doing exactly that at the moment.
Someone said, I think it was Don McIntyre, that when you undertake this adventure you should always think that you are already in the middle of the Atlantic, and so that way it’s just as easy to go forward as it is to go back. So I am in the middle of the Atlantic, and I am not going back!!
