Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Courses:

Although I have not sailed before I do own a Quicksilver 6.50 Passport with a 100hp outboard. Thus, I have already taken some RYA courses:

  1. Powerboat Level 2 (RYA)
  2. Day Skipper Theory (RYA)
  3. VHF/Short Range Certificate (SRC) (RYA)

The above courses were taken at the http://edinburghmarineacademy.co.uk

However, as I am going to sail around the world, not motor around the world, I will need to learn to sail. The following are the courses that I have undertaken to enable me to start sailing and then progress to the standard required for this adventure I have undertaken.

  1. Competent Crew (RYA) – March 2025 https://gowestsailing.com
  2. Day Skipper Practical (RYA) – March 2025 https://gowestsailing.com

Nautical Miles Sailed:

I will also need to build up miles in order to get to level of sailing that will meet the requirements for entry to the Mini Globe Race. The following is a log of miles completed either through courses or passages undertaken.

  1. RYA Competent Crew: March 2025 (105 NM)
  2. RYA Day Skipper Practical:March 2025 (125NM)
  3. Largs-Target-Rothsey-Largs: Sept 2025 (60 NM)
  4. Day sailing at Arbroath: (10NM)
