I have, with the help of my good friend Stuart, now got a place to build. This as you know has been a bit of an issue. I think it is for most home builders. Most home builders are not shipwrights, carpenters, or skilled craftsmen – we just simply want to build a boat and then try to work out how to do it. This is why the space to build can often be so problematic. We don’t have workshops readily available to us; the ones that are available to rent are really expensive and so we need to get creative. However, with a bit of imagination and for some of us a lot of support from our long-suffering partners space can often be found whether it be the garage, the drive, or the back garden. I have been fortunate in that I have been able to read of other home builders finding space to build through reading the 5.80 builders’ blogs. This was really helpful. Below you will see my boat building workshop. All it needs now is a boat 😉

Due to the limitations of my garden I needed to for a temporary garage 3.6m x 7.2m. It just about gives me the room I need to build. If I had more space I would have go for 8x4m. All the best, Mike
